Editorial
Greetings my friend,
Over the years I've had many guides and mentors who helped me discover new truths and new possibilities I didn't realize existed.
Some of these guides were authors who wrote books which gave me helpful information, others were local folks who demonstrated the relative effectiveness of doing things in different ways. By keeping my mind open, I have been able to learn from just about anyone, even if the only thing I learn from them is how NOT to do something.
What has always fascinated me was the connection between actions and results. Maybe it's because I tend to be a bit scientific in my thinking. Or maybe it's because I'm fundamentally lazy and don't want to spend any time doing something that won't produce a satisfying result. Whatever it is, I've always paid close attention to the results (or lack of results) that come from what people do.
Most of my subscribers know that I recently opened up 100 spots in a new "test group" to participate in the development of a new Entrainment Package for the PowerKeys Publishing website. (By the way, new members for this test group will be accepted until this coming Sunday only. After that, no new test group members will be accepted.)
The initial batch of recordings for this new package were created from material used in previous recordings, repackaged into new formats. From a logical standpoint, the results from these new recordings should be AT LEAST as good as those from previous recordings, unless something is fundamentally wrong with the new format. While it's too early to collect data on results, we're already getting some interesting feedback.
Personally, I see our test group as a 2-way coaching/mentoring relationship. I'm sharing what I've learned over the years, packaged into recordings and user guides, and each test group member is sharing their experience with me, especially as it relates to the recordings being tested. In a very real sense, we have entered into a "MasterMind" relationship where the focus is on producing significant results quickly for each member in the test group.
An interesting discussion has come up in all this around what is the "best" way to phrase affirmations and other belief-tranforming statements. To provide the most in-depth explanation of what I know on this topic, I wrote a short report (or long article, depending on how you see it) to cover the major points. It has been posted to the Pragmatic Solutions Now! website in this week's issue.
The major point anyone needs to understand whenever working with their belief system to produce real change in their lives, is that there must be an emotional connection with the tools used, or else there will be little, if any, results. When the tool includes words, phrases, and other language-based communication, those words and phrases need to be as "natural" and "realistic" as possible. If they sound artificial, as if produced in a sterile lab somewhere, they won't work nearly as well.
The same is true when working with a coach or mentor. There must be an emotional connection between coach and client. A professional connection, to be sure, but an emotional connection nonetheless. In many cases, this emotional connection may be described as mutual respect and caring. If the coach/mentor doesn't care about his/her client, they won't do their best. And if the client doesn't respect the coach/mentor, they probably won't act on the advice given, and therefore won't get the results they want.
Anyone who looks for a good coach or mentor will find that there are MANY choices available. Sometimes it seems I know more people who offer life coaching services than I know folks who hire life coaches. While this is a service I make available to those who request it, it's not something I actively promote, mostly because I prefer to create products that can help a greater number of folks.
Although I'd love to be able to recommend a good life coach, the truth is that it's a very personal decision, and one you have to make for yourself. Some of the people I trust most are folks who don't promote themselves as life coaches. Charles Burke, for instance. He's one of our contributing authors here at Pragmatic Solutions Now!. At one time, he offered himself as a "small business" coach, but I'm not sure if he does that any more.
Let's see -- is there a "pragmatic solution" in all this?
Ah yes. Whenever you want to produce significant changes in your life, be open to all possibilities, try new things (especially those which engage you on an emotional level), and pay close attention to the results you get. If you keep an open mind, (but not so open your brains fall out), you'll eventually realize the success you've been dreaming of your whole life.
Current Events
After the flurry of public activity last month, it may appear that things are slowing down. Don't be fooled, though, because our "test group" is just getting started. Everyone is invited to participate, but you must join before noon (Eastern Daylight-savings Time) this Sunday, May 16th.

How to Phrase Affirmations for Maximum Results
Submitted by AlanTutt on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 10:56am
Recent events have brought up the subject of how to phrase affirmations for the “best” results. Many folks are quoting lines from old research which led to incorrect conclusions, and I’d like to take a moment and set the record straight as to how affirmations should be phrased for maximum results.
The line being quoted most says, “the subconscious mind cannot process a negative, and therefore interprets any negative phrase incorrectly.”
One of the classic examples of this is an affirmations like, “I will not get sick.” According to the traditional teachings, our mind will ALWAYS interpret this as, “I will get sick.”....Read more »
Lose Weight and Keep It Off By Watching TV. It's Not A Fantasy!
Submitted by AlanDensky on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 10:45am
Have you had it with dieting? Do you lose a couple of pounds, and gain back more? Do you get your hopes up whenever a "miracle" diet arrives on the scene, only to find out that you still are not able to beat your cravings?
What you really need is a diet where you lose weight by sitting and watching TV. Think it's a fantasy? Go on and keep reading.
You have read and heard the statistics: Society is getting fatter than any time in history. From young to old, the stats tell the tale: Obesity is endemic. Why?
There are plenty of explanations, but here is one that you probably have not heard: We have been programmed, hypnotized--if you will--to purchase and consume more and larger portions of everything, chiefly junk food, sugary soft drinks and fast food.
How did this happen? What could possibly have such a powerful, insidious effect on so many millions of people? The answer is sitting in your living room. It's your TV.
Yes, advertisers have slowly and methodically hypnotized you. They market their empty calories using the most potent and effective advertising medium ever created: TV commercials.....Read more »
How to Change Any Feeling in 5 Simple Steps
Submitted by AdamEason on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 10:35am
A Quick Quiz for You!
Answer these questions:
- Are you actually aware of what you are feeling right now?
- Would you know how to change that feeling?
- Would you know how to get rid of it?
So many of us seem to resist and fight our feelings without really being aware of what the feeling actually is and when we stop fighting, we can actually really learn how to be in control of how we feel in any given moment.
Do you find Mary Poppins Emotional? Someone Does…
I was speaking to a client of mine this week who was telling me that as a result of the work we had been doing together, she is much more in tune with herself, much more comfortable and has found that she is much more able to express her feelings openly. She even told me that she had actually cried when watching a documentary on television in the week.....Read more »
The Power of Authenticity

How often do you not say or do something because you’re worried about how it’ll be perceived? For most of us, myself included, this happens all the time - more often than we’d like to admit.
We live in a culture that’s starving for authenticity. We want our leaders, our co-workers, our family members, our friends, and everyone else we interact with to tell us the truth and to be themselves. Most important, we want to have the personal freedom and confidence to say, do, and be who we really are, without worrying so much about how we appear to others and what they might think or say about us.....Read more »
Iron-Clad Confidence
Submitted by CharlesBBurke on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 10:18am
"He just oozed confidence."
That's the way a long-time friend described Aristotle Onassis when he was just a teenager.
Some people are late bloomers. They don't gain much real confidence till they are well into adulthood.
But there are also early bloomers - Onassis was one.
During World War One, his father was arrested by the German occupation forces, and it was young Aristotle who went to the German commandant and negotiated a bribe for the release of his father.
But his father, once released, continually criticized his son for paying far too much money. So young Ari left home. He didn't just run across town to hide out in a friend's house, however.
No, he went all the way from Greece to South America... though only in his twenties. And made good.
So good, in fact, that he eventually became one of the richest, most powerful men on earth.
Now, we all know that money isn't everything. Life is a complex mix; it takes many different qualities to make up a human being.....Read more »
