Editorial

Greetings my friend,

As I write today's editorial, the sun is shining, all our windows are open, and I just completed a major project yesterday.  Life is good.

In considering what to write about in today's editorial, the most prominant thought was about the incredible impact that intense effort can have on our success.

As you may know, the last couple of months were incredibly intense for me.  I did an online presentation of my Choose To Believe workshop material, followed by a BWE audio giveaway event leading into the announcement of a test group to participate in the development of a new system of recordings.

What you may not know is that the return on my investment has been excellent.  We filled 91 of the 100 spots that were opened for the new Belief Entrainment Test Group, which not only means that we have lots of folks testing the new recordings, but also that I and my affiliates have pulled in approximately $9,000 in just a couple of weeks from this one promotion alone.  This will certainly pay the bills for a few months while I focus on fine-tuning the new product development.  (Yes, I'm comfortable living a relatively simple life.  I bought myself a new MP3 player [Sansa Clip+ 8GB] and have been considering upgrading my computer to an i7 processor.)

All of the excitement around the new Belief Entrainment material tells me something else too.  I really need to start doing some 'serious' marketing to get the message out to a larger audience.

Anyway, the point I want to make with all this is that doing "business as usual" may be okay, however, shining a bright light in the marketplace can lead to some rather nice results.

This principle can also work for someone wanting a promotion.  Find a way to become involved with a major (and somewhat difficult) project, do a great job, and you will get noticed.

The same principle which works in the business world can work just as well in personal matters too.

Someone who is looking for a new relationship can host a party for all the singles in the neighborhood.  Anyone who attends will automatically associate the quality of the party with the host or hostess, and a grand party can be the perfect introduction to a new partner, even if you hire someone else to orchestrate the details.

The same strategy can work for a couple moving into a new neighborhood, or someone wanting to become more popular.  Host a great party, and you can make quick friends with other people.

One factor here is that making a big impression is more cost effective when you do it once for a large group of people.  Another factor is that your guests will see others having fun in your presence, and this adds a touch of "social proof", which heightens everyone's opinion of you.

On the other hand, if you try to do this "low-key" and invite one person (or couple) at a time for dinner, the impact isn't even close to being the same.

A memory device which works well for this is, "Let your light shine bright."

As an analogy, consider this.  While it may not be possilbe to "shine bright" all the time, a bright, pulsating light is easier to see than a steady, but dim, one.

So, if you want to get noticed, shine bright.

Current Events

Things seems to be relatively quiet this week.  Several folks were "shining bright" recently, but are now resting for their next series of events.  Personally, I have lots of things on my ToDo list which will keep me busy for some time.

However, I am also planning a sale event for next week to celebrate my upcoming birthday, so watch for an announcement either next Monday or Tuesday.

Getting Past the Off-Limits Blocks in Your Mind

"Rick, you never finish anything you start." Rick told me later that this comment from his wife temporarily crushed him. But it also opened his eyes. He couldn't deny it - she was right.

And he'd never even realized there was a problem.

Thinking back over the years, a pattern came into focus for him. He saw the long trail of abandoned projects littering his life, and at that moment, he came face to face with one unavoidable fact - Ellen was right; he DIDN'T finish things. Strange: she could see it easily, but he never had until she pointed it out.

One reason he couldn't see the pattern was that he always seemed to have a good reason for his quitting, and that's where his thoughts were focused, on the reason rather than the results.

Sometimes it would be a matter of needing more information before he could proceed, but he never seemed to follow up strongly enough to find the right information. It never seemed to materialize. Other times his interests would shift to some new activity. Still others, he'd have to stop because the whole project had turned out to be more complex than he'd expected. Always, there was a reason.....Read more »

Use Your Mind to Harness One of Nature’s Most Powerful Forces

Submitted by AdamEason on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 12:21pm

OK, OK, so my brother and I were on a 20 mile marathon training run together this weekend just gone, and I was telling him that a very momentous thing happened to me this week and I am going to tell you about that thing too. Ready?… I threw away my big duck-down, red puffer jacket — a big winter coat that I have owned since I was 16 years old. I bought it from my uncle’s shop in Nottingham as a young man and have now owned it for more of my life that I have not owned it.....Read more »

5 Important Tips for Anxiety Relief

Submitted by SiteAdmin on Thu, 05/20/2010 - 12:06pm

Written by John Stark

Worry and anxiety self-help tip #1: Accept uncertainty

The inability to tolerate uncertainty plays a huge role in anxiety and worry. Chronic worriers can’t stand doubt or unpredictability. They need to know with 100 percent certainty what’s going to happen. Worrying is seen as a way to predict what the future has in store, a way to prevent unpleasant surprises and control the outcome. The problem is, it doesn’t work.

Thinking about all the things that could go wrong doesn’t make life any more predictable. You may feel safer when you’re worrying, but it’s just an illusion. Focusing on worst-case scenarios won’t keep bad things from happening. It will only keep you from enjoying the good things you have in the present. So if you want to stop worrying, start by tackling your need for certainty and immediate answers.

How to Easily Overcome Your Fears in less than 10 minutes

Lets clarify what I mean by fears. One dictionary definition states 'be afraid or feel anxious or apprehensive about a possible or probable situation or event; "I fear she might get aggressive".'

It's a combination of a feeling and thought that you have about an unknown situation based on your belief or preconceptions of what might happen in the future. It can be based on a previous bad experience or from listening to others.

In some situations the feeling of fear that you get is an instinctive response to a threatening situation, your intuition telling you that something is not right and that you need to be wary or even remove yourself from the situation. Sometimes described as the fight or flight response. This is a positive use for fear as it protects you from harm.....Read more »

Create your own Anti-Emergency Fund™

Do unexpected car repairs, quarterly insurance payments or those darned property taxes find you hard pressed to squeeze one more dollar out of an already stretched monthly budget? Or do you usually end up reaching for the plastic in your wallet to make up the difference? Those inevitable expenses can put less stress on your bank balance -- and your mind -- if you learn to expect them and save in advance.

Too often, irregular occurring expenses get left out of our financial equation. Our income stretches to cover the regular monthly expenses and the remainder trickles away toward little things like the morning espresso or lunches out or a dozen other daily splurges. We choose not to think about the brakes that are getting spongy or the plumbing that's beginning to make strange noises. And we end up riding a financial roller coaster, never knowing when the next crisis will throw us for a loop.....Read more »
