Goal Attainment

Why Desire is the Basis of Achieving All Your Goals

Written by Shefiu Francis

All of the great achievers throughout history have one thing in common. They have all been dreamers or desirers. If anyone is to achieve their goals in life then the first thing they need to do is establish what their desires are. That’s what makes people who are highly successful different from the rest – they know exactly what they want in life.

Simply wishing for success is insufficient. If anyone is to make any steps towards their definite objectives then they need to have a determined attitude, bordering on obsession, to fulfil that desire. It does not matter what your desire is. It may be a desire to excel in business, it could be a desire to learn a new skill, or it could involve a desire to change aspects of your personal life.....Read more »

Outrageous Fortune - an Action Guide

"Great things are only possible with outrageous requests."
- Thea Alexander, psychologist

Is it your ambition to be just one of the crowd? Do you hunger to blend in and be un-noticed by the world? Perhaps your notion of the ideal life style is anonymity - and having just enough to get by.

If so, this lesson is not for you... stop reading now.

Because if you don't stop, you'll be presented with provocative new doors that may frighten you. And you'll read about ways to blast through those doors and be VERY noticed by the world around you. So stop, I say. Stop now.

On the other hand, if you're still with me, I'll assume you want more for yourself:

  • a richer, more satisfying life;
  • greater recognition;
  • thundering success;
  • massive acclaim...

… even if you haven't a clue yet how it's to happen.

Still reading? Okay, I warned you. Get a pencil and paper. You'll be needing them.....Read more »

Success Negotiating: Less Stress, More Yes, How Your Plan Affects Your Outcome

Written by Anne Warfield

Negotiating does not have to be a sweat session. Matter of fact, if you use these key principles, negotiating becomes a fun event. The four key things are:

  1. your attitude going in to the negotiation
  2. your focus on an outcome instead of the process
  3. your ability to read the other person’s thoughts through their body language
  4. and your ability to speak and think positively from the other person’s perspective.

In the article we are going to look at how to plan a negotiation since that affects your attitude going in and it affects the outcome you work towards. Whether you are negotiating for a raise, a job promotion, with a client or with a coworker, you need to know what you want to get out of the negotiation. And you need to know this from the other person’s perspective, not yours. You might be thinking, what are you saying???....Read more »

How to have Hypnotic Body Language

The winter is truly over. Spring is well and truly here — there are daffodils in my gardens, the sun is shining and I am sat writing this on my balcony watching the waves of the sea rolling in.

At the time of writing this, this weekend was the time when I had to do the longest of my training runs prior to London Marathon in a couple of weeks’ time — 22 miles across the sea front and the New Forest, and the beautiful weather helped me lift my feet in those latter miles.

Adam gets nostalgic and uses sci-fi for personal development, yet again!

I had lunch with a friend of mine that I went to school with at the weekend, and he was pulling my leg, laughing and speaking about how I used to be an avid sci-fi film and TV buff when I was at school and that I used to profess to my ridiculing friends that it was far more educational than anything they watched.....Read more »

Speed Reading Secrets

Written by Jon Rhodes

There are many courses out there that make bold claims that they can help you read at extraordinary speeds. They charge a fortune for online courses and the like. Here you can get this information for free! I am a little sceptical about the gravity of some of these claims, but there is no doubt that you can train yourself to read much faster. I suppose if you trained long and hard enough then you could achieve some pretty amazing stuff, but for most of us that time spent would be counter productive to our original aim – to save time!

There is also a payout to reading fast. The faster you read, the harder it is to comprehend and remember the information. That is why you need to practice comprehending at fast speeds, and learning what to ignore. When a child first learns to read, their comprehension levels are very low. They build this up with practice. You must do the same – at speed! When you are good enough, you can re-read material two or three times and understand it more than reading it at a normal pace, which would take longer.....Read more »

How to Phrase Affirmations for Maximum Results

Recent events have brought up the subject of how to phrase affirmations for the “best” results. Many folks are quoting lines from old research which led to incorrect conclusions, and I’d like to take a moment and set the record straight as to how affirmations should be phrased for maximum results.

The line being quoted most says, “the subconscious mind cannot process a negative, and therefore interprets any negative phrase incorrectly.”

One of the classic examples of this is an affirmations like, “I will not get sick.” According to the traditional teachings, our mind will ALWAYS interpret this as, “I will get sick.”....Read more »

Is The Law Of Attraction Working For Your Benefit or Demise?

Written by Eric Johnson

The Law of Attraction is a universal law based on this principle – like attracts like, and so that upon which we focus our thoughts will be manifested in our lives.  The Law of Attraction is similar to the Law of Gravity in that it equally affects everything in our universe with its simple truth – what you think about you bring about, whether conscious or unconscious, positive or negative.  Our challenge is to tap into the universal flow of abundance by focusing our own thoughts, words, and action on what we want in accordance with this law.....Read more »

Setting the RIGHT Goals

No matter how much you know about how to achieve your goals, you'll ALWAYS get better results when you know you're going after the RIGHT goals.  Going after the wrong goals is not only ineffective, it can actually take you AWAY from where you really want to be.

A quick example.  Let's say you dream of owning a business where you can make money without having to actually do any work.  It's possible, but not if you set up your business in such a way that it DEPENDS on you being physical present in the business, such as in life coaching.  To market yourself as a life coach, you generally describe your personal experience and how that helps you be a good coach.  This isn't something you can easily walk away from and still make money.

Another example.  Let's say you're feeling lonely, and you decide to set a goal of going out to the bars every Friday night to find someone special.  Well, this MAY work or it may not.  It really depends on what TYPE of person you want to share your life with.

You see, many people know what they really want.  In the first example, we want "easy money", and in the second, we want to find someone special.  In both cases, we know what the "ultimate goal" is, but we may set a "subgoal" (that is, a goal intended to bring us closer to our ultimate goal) that may or may not help.

In this article, I'm going to share with you some tips about how to make sure you set the "right" subgoals that will move you closer to what you really want.....Read more »
